I’m glad you asked…

Long before I began traveling around the world scouting for models I wanted to be a model myself.  In fact since I was a 15 year old girl I’ve wanted to be a model.

While I put aside that dream at various times, I eventually decided to pursue it fully. So not long after high school I enrolled in a modeling school in San Jose, California to embark upon a modeling career.

I can say that this experience changed my life. It gave me the confidence and direction I needed to get started. Up until then my post high school career path was nothing particularly special. I was working as a waitress in San Francisco, then as a secretary.

But once I got it in my head that I was going to be a model, and had completed my training, I decided to go for it. I moved to Munich, Germany not knowing a word of German or having even my first modeling job lined up. Germany represented a great modeling market then as it does now, and I was ready.  I believed I could do it, I wanted to do it, and the rest as they say, is history.

I hit the ground running, found an agency that would work with me and began going to castings. From that point forward I’ve never looked back. I proceeded to get steady work as a high fashion model, soon finding that my real forte’ was runway, although I also did print and television jobs too. I even managed to appear in several films, but unlike some of my more famous fellow models did not make the transition to a film career (sigh!).

After a few months in Germany I moved briefly to Milan, and then finally Paris where I’ve lived ever since. I worked steadily as a high fashion model in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, New York, London and many other places around the globe. I had the pleasure to work personally on frequent occasions with many top designers, including Calvin Klein, Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Armani and other greats.

After 12 years of high level modeling I left the profession full time to raise a family. But during the time I spent modeling I discovered I also had a real eye for spotting modeling talent, and so I switched direction somewhat and became a model scout. Nowadays I scout for a boutique Paris model agency and continue to travel all over the world looking for great new models for the Paris market.

Scouting is something that I could devote a book to, because it really is an art and a science all to itself. For now I’ll tell you that it lets me remain closely connected to some of the very best agencies and agents the world over. I’m happy to call many of these professionals my friends as well as my business associates. And of course scouting allows me to get to know many of the fresh new faces that are gracing runways and magazine covers around the world today, even as I write these words.

If I didn’t mention it, I love this industry, the people and the feeling I get watching someone discover it for themselves.  Someone who suddenly finds they have what it takes to succeed, after only dreaming about it like I did.

As if all of that hasn’t been a great enough career, I’ve had the honor and pleasure for some time to be able to present seminars on various modeling topics all over the world. For example I teach runway clinics to current and aspiring models, and I appear frequently at the world’s major modeling conventions as a speaker, event judge and of course as a scout.

But my latest endeavor and I must say my real “baby” is relatively new. Last year I launched my new company, Inner Modeling LLC to fulfill another long time dream of mine. That is to help inspire anyone who has ever had the dream of becoming a model to better understand this incredible business and what it takes to succeed.

Through Inner Modeling I’m happy to say I’ve created some unique opportunities for anyone who is really serious about becoming a model, or a model/actor for that matter.  I’ve developed a one-of-a-kind home study course I call The Secret in Modeling that allows me to share so many of the really important things I’ve learned and that you absolutely must understand to make it in a big way in this business.

I’ve also created a 6 month long coaching program that I present personally to students via telephone and online. I can tell you honestly that there is nothing at all like it available anywhere else.
